Virtual Hike - Wilderness State Park, MI

This will officially be our first Virtual Hike on blogspot!
Technically, this one is more of a Virtual Camping Trip.

Upon arriving at our cabin up in Wilderness State Park
we unpacked the car, put Veda down for her nap and hit the beach!

We were camping right on the beach with a view of the Upper Peninsula and Mackinaw Bridge.

Lake Michigan is always breathtaking.

Here is a shot of the bridge. At night it is all lit up.

A trail into the sea.

The trail back towards the cabin.

Chris standing on the shore.

I always wonder about things like this.
Who placed all these rocks?
When were they arranged here?

We stayed 3 nights.
No running water.
No electricity.

We usually just tent camp.
But this is our first time camping with a little one.
We want to make sure we have a roof over our heads in case it rains.

It was a cozy night and then an early morning.

We stayed at Waugoshance cabin.
There are lots of cabins along the shore.

They are surrounded by beautiful trees.

They all have outhouses.

Apparently porcupines are a problem. LOL!
So you have to park your car in a special place
so they don't destroy your vehicle.

Here is the walk from the cabin to the water.

Looking back towards the cabin.

Seagulls.
I love listening to them.

Lots of rock hounding to be had.

A trail nearby.

They leave you with lots of wood for the
wood burning stove that heats the cabin.

You aren't allowed to burn it in the fire pit though.

Water.
They said it was safe to drink
but we filtered it anyways just to be on the safe side.

Chris cleaning a bucket with a stick.

Porcupine hole?

Behind the cabin.

A beautiful feather.

This is the view of the front of the cabin
where the picture window is located.

Reflection.

Daddy & baby.

We went on lots of hikes across the area.

An interesting spot.

This is the gravel road to get to the cabins.
In the winter you can't drive to the cabins.
You ski in.
I imagine it is an amazing experience.

Many beautiful sites along the way.

A nice spot for a picnic.

At this spot on Waugoshance Peninsula
our GPS unit showed that we were actually out
IN Lake Michigan.
We thought that was pretty funny.

Veda sleeping.
She's our little trooper. :)

A huge rock in the middle of nowhere.

There were rocks and pools of water everywhere.

I wonder what kind of a rock this is?

Looks like we are standing at the
bottom of a fish tank.

Pretty flowers.

Another interesting rock.

Poor little duck.

Chris and Veda hanging out on the sand.

It's so nice to be able to see the water from inside the cabin.
The waves lull you to sleep
and greet you in the morning
when you wake up.

We like to leave cherums wherever we go.
We named this one
'Family Sitting Under A Tree'.

Peaceful.

Took a trip up to the shower houses.

Their are gates at each of the cabins.
It's like they have their own driveways. :)

Here is where the shower houses are located.
You can camp here in tents and RVs.

Up here the water looks as blue as the Caribbean.

Back to the cabin and off on another hike!

"Family Sitting Under A Tree" by sunset.

Our last night.

The bridge off in the distance.

Thanks for joining us!

We'll leave you with some gorgeous pictures of the
sunset.

Just a speck of sun.

Veda had a blast on her
very first camping trip!

It is so cool to introduce her to new places.
We can't wait to take her on her next adventure!
