Virtual Canoeing - Pottawatomie Bayou, MI

In the mood for a little canoeing trip down
Pottawatomie Bayou?

The place where we are putting our canoe
in is at Pottawatomie Park.

The drive in is
BEAUTIFUL.

Just a short walk down to the water.

Chris.

There is a great dock here for fishing.

The view of the park from the
water.

This time we decided to head right towards
Hofma Preserve.

We hike in that area quite a bit.

The weather was PERFECT!

The water is much warmer in the
Bayou than in Lake Michigan.

Front.

Back.

Getting closer to Hofma.

Only canoes and kayaks can
access Hofma this way.

Lily pads.

Beautiful!

You can see why motorboats don't
get very far in this area on the Bayou.

There were lots of beautiful
birds along the way.

We saw lots of red-winged
black birds.
But didn't get any photos of them
as we were paddling.

What is that in the distance?

Wild Iris?
We have to get a closer look!

It looks like yellow wild Iris.

We weren't sure how far we could get
before having to turn back.

Hofma is a really cool
spot to paddle around.

Eventually, we could get no further.
Time to turn back.

Thanks for coming along!

Below are a couple short
video clips from our trip.
